When Tragedy Strikes
At times like this, I think about the biblical practice of lament, although I think lament is appropriate anytime we experience deep pain or sorrow in our lives, not just large-scale tragedies. In hopes we might become more familiar with the practice of lament, the following is an excerpt of an article by June Dickie that I thought might be helpful.
Fountain Sleepover 2023
Now if you're familiar with sleepovers, you probably know that very little sleep actually happens. We should probably change the name to all-night hangout because that's what it really is, 20 kids spending all night playing games, eating snacks, worshipping, and hanging out. As tiring as it was though, it was great to see them having fun together.
Contradictions in Life
I think as we get older, we recognize more and more contradictions in life. That things aren't always what they seem. An example of this is thinking that the path of least resistance is always the best because it appears to be the easiest.
Beyond Listening
You see, every time you and I hear God’s Word but do not put it into practice, we deceive ourselves into thinking that listening is good enough. Does that happen to you? I know sometimes I feel very good when I read or hear a good message from God's Word.
NAOMI House Day 6 – Thursday
On Thursday, we finished up our last full day of activities. The youth ministry played with water balloons and the children’s ministry went on a scavenger hunt. Despite the hot weather, both groups had a lot of fun outside.
NAOMI House Day 5 – Wednesday
On Tuesday night our water pump stopped working. Naomi House was without any running water. We made multiple trips to the gas station to use their restrooms.
NAOMI House Day 4 – Tuesday
Today was the first official day of hanging out with the kids. This morning we made cookies and tie dyed shirts, it was a lot of fun.
Lord of All Creation
It's hard to explain what it is about God's creation that helps us experience Him in new and different ways. But He is Lord of all creation and nature is His handiwork.
