Time Flies!
My kids start back at school next week. The summer has gone by like a blur!
Even more amazing to me is that when they head back to school, my son, Dawson, will be in high school. How in the world did that happen!
As we say all the time, “Time flies!”
We really must be careful to make the most of every moment, as Ephesians 5:16 says. The old King James Version translates that verse, “Redeem the time.” Our days are fleeting and we want to devote ourselves to what is most important.
As a family, we often reminisce about the vacations that we have had together. And I don’t ever regret any times when I have been able to serve the Lord or love someone sacrificially. Those things might come once and a while, but everyday I spend time with the Lord in His word and in prayer. Those are usually some of the most important parts of my day.
What are some things you would like to do before it’s too late? Perhaps we need to put that question before the Lord and make up our minds to do the things that He wants us to do. This is surely part of what Jesus means when He says, “Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:19). We give ourselves to the people and the activities that will last for all eternity. And in heaven, we’ll never run out of time, which will be one of the huge blessings from the Lord!
