Serving our God and One Another

A couple of weeks ago we included a volunteer sign-up in the program for anyone who wanted to volunteer to serve in a ministry in the church.  We had an amazing response!  Fourteen people indicated that they wanted to serve as a new volunteer.  What a blessing to have a church where so many people want to serve the Lord and one another!

First Corinthians 12:4-6 says, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone is the same God at work.”  As we work together in the church, we are working for God and God works through us to love one another and help each other grow in our faith.

We can be so encouraged when people sense God’s leading in their lives and they take a step of faith to serve Him.  Think of how our Men’s Ministry and Women’s Ministry are seeking to strengthen and encourage one another with Bible studies and fellowships.  These are ministries that we didn’t even have a year ago and now God has laid it on people’s hearts to start these wonderful ministries and they are growing and thriving.

A church where only a few people serve will never accomplish much for the Kingdom of God.  But a church that is truly a Joyful Community where many people serve can be used powerfully in the hands of God.  God designed His church to be one of His main tools for carrying out His work in this world today and the church is most effective when we are all working together for His glory!  Praise the Lord!
