Prayers for our Youth
As the new school year is starting and we are preparing for our Prayer & Worship Night this coming Saturday, which is focusing on our youth, God has impressed upon my heart the need to cover our youth in prayer. There are so many challenges our youth are facing these days. God is asking us to pray and ask Him to guard their hearts and their minds because that is where the enemy attacks the most. The heart and mind are the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. It is where we develop our sense of value and sense of self.
We are all children of God, that is our identity when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It is this identity we all need to cling to. The enemy wants to make us unsure of who we are. So let us pray for our children that they know who they are in Christ Jesus. We are co-heirs with Christ, children of the one true God.
In Psalm 91:11–12 it says:
“For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
God places a hedge of protection over His children, and as parents, we can pray and ask God for that covering over our children.
Here are a few things we can pray for:
Pray for their faith in God – that they will rely on God and know that God is ALWAYS with them. Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Pray for their friendships – that they will develop good, healthy friendships
Philippians 2:5 - NIV
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus”
Pray for their character – that they will become people of good character, integrity and purity.
Philippians 4:8 NIV
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Pray for their future – that God would guide them to the plan He has for them.
Jeremiah 29:11 - NIV
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
As a church family and community, we have the privilege of lifting up our youth in prayer. Let’s come together in worship and unite our hearts in seeking God’s blessing and guidance over the next generation.
