NAOMI House Daily Blog - Day 1 and 2

Hello church family!

Welcome to our NAOMI House blog! During the next week, we plan on updating y’all on how our missions trip is fairing. You’ll be hearing from people in the children’s ministry, facilities, and kitchen teams and seeing some photos of our time here. We know that there are so many supporting us and praying for us as we are here and we hope this blog is a way to include you in on our mission!

It is now officially the end of our first full day at NAOMI House. After a smooth 8-hour car ride complete with a lunch of In-N-Out and ample time exploring gas stations, we safely arrived to the house and unloaded our van in the midst of a heavy rainstorm. We ate dinner, got settled, and got a good night’s sleep.

This morning, we originally planned on attending church on the Navajo reservation nearby and sharing a special performance with the church members. Unfortunately, the muddy roads were not safe to travel, but, fortunately, we were still able to attend First Baptist Church of Winslow and do our performance of Jesus Loves Me in Japanese, ASL, and English for the congregation! Despite some feeling a bit unprepared, it was a good experience and people seemed to enjoy it. After church and some sightseeing in Winslow, we ate lunch and took a tour of the grounds. It was many of our first times seeing the other buildings. We hung out with the NAOMI House children until we ate dinner, and ended the evening with worship, a group meeting, and fellowship amongst our team. Even in our short time here, it’s been such a privilege to serve here and meet the kids, and we can’t wait for the week ahead of us!
