NAOMI House Daily Blog - Day 2

Today was our second day working on the house and we continued to take down the weeds around the house. We need to clear 10 ft from the house as requested by an inspector. We woke up at 5:30 today to try and beat the sun and then continued after breakfast. We got a weed wacker which was also helpful because we were using tools such as hoes and rakes. We also brought out a speaker which helped make things go by faster. It was pretty hot but we managed to make a lot of progress today.

This year we have a team of 2 adults and 3 youth helping in the kitchen. We make meals for the 20 NAOMI house children and staff and our own team from WCCC. Today we have sharing from 2 of our team members.

I like helping make our meals for everyone - chopping up a lot of food, cooking on the stove, and filling our big drink containers. The favorite meal I helped with was on Tuesday when we made curry and I chopped the potatoes and mixed the batch of curry.

I’ve never cooked so much in my life. I can now cut fruits and vegetables. I love cooking with my group and eating/taste-testing the food before it’s served.
