Pastor Kory's Update
Dear West Covina Christian Church,
We had a wonderful Easter season! It was great seeing some of you that I have not had a chance to see face-to-face in a long-time!
We are looking forward to moving into the sanctuary on June 6. In the meantime, we will continue to meet in our outdoor worship space. While we will live stream our worship services indefinitely, please join us for the outdoor the worship service when you feel comfortable (as many of you are already doing). We’re thankful for the technology to have online services and ministries, but there is a sense of the Lord’s presence in a special way when we can gather together in person.
This past Sunday we had our first official Rotary Club meeting at our church. While this was not highly publicized because it is a work in progress and is specifically tied to the Education Center (our tutoring program with Cameron Elementary School), it is exciting for us. Our official name is “West Covina Tutorial-Based Rotary Club.” We are the first education-focused Rotary Club in the United States. Moving forward, we will have a monthly meeting that will be open to anyone who would like to attend.
There are a few benefits for us as a church to have a Rotary Club connected with our church’s Education Center. First, it expands our ability to reach the community by helping us build new relationships with people through Rotary. Second, we have volunteers through Rotary that will help with the Education Center. Third, the Rotary Club will help finance our Education Center. Fourth, the long history of Rotary carries weight and will help open doors for greater involvement in ministering to our community.
As always, please let us know how we can pray for you and if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a great rest of your week and hope to see you soon, Pastor Kory
