Serving Our Community
Hello West Covina Christian Church,
We are excited about the partnership that we have developed with Cameron Elementary School. Just this morning, I received an email that Sylvia Fullerton, the principal of the school, sent to her teachers. It reads this way:
Good morning, I am pleased to inform you that West Covina Community Church has generously donated colorful book bags to all our TK through second-grade students. On the book bag, there is a tag with an encouraging note for each child. We will be passing these out during curriculum pick up on Thursday and Friday. We are so grateful to have a partnership with WCCC and greatly appreciate their support. Have a great day!
Thank you to our Mercy and Justice team for organizing these book bags. It is obviously appreciated! With this partnership with Cameron, we are also seeking to providing tutoring for some of the students starting after Labor Day. I’d like to have your help because the needs are great! This is a pilot program that will run for 6 weeks. During that time, you could tutor an elementary school student once or twice a week either in person or virtually. The in-person tutoring would be done very safely and we’ll explain how this will be done at the informational meeting on Monday. The virtual tutoring would be done online using Zoom.
If you are willing to serve our community (and, more importantly, the Lord!) as a tutor or would simply like to receive more information, please attend the informational meeting on the church patio on Monday (8/17) at 7:00. If you would rather attend this meeting virtually, please sign-up on the church website and we will email you the link for the meeting. However you attend, we will give all the information that we can, take suggestions, and answer questions.
God bless you,
Pastor Kory
