Reflections & Praise
As I have reflected over the past two years or so, I have seen this church grow in so many different ways. We have grown in numbers of attendees, we have grown in volunteers in our different ministries, we have added life groups and I have seen growth in the participation of church functions and activities. That being said and observed, I can only attribute this growth to our faithful God. We are a praying church, we are a church grounded in God’s Holy Word, the Bible. We pray and ask God to make His church a magnet in this community and He has answered and people feel drawn to come to His church, here in West Covina, California. Let us continue to pray and ask God to make West Covina Christian Church a light in the this community and surrounding communities. There is a hunger to know who God is.
Our Women’s and Men’s Bible studies have grown in participation and people are stepping up to serve and teach. It’s exciting to see more and more people join and participate in discussions. I can see that they want to know more about God and want to learn more about how to study the Bible. I’m really looking forward to our Life groups and Bible studies starting up again in September! I can hardly wait to see how God is going to move in His church and through His people!
I wanted to share a few thoughts about one of my morning routines.
Every morning, I listen and sing with this devotional podcast of sorts called, Sing, Daily Devo. It is put out by the Worship Initiative and I have found it to be a great way to start off the day singing praises to God. They base this ministry on Colossians 3:16 which says,
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, sining psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
One of the best things I love about this daily devotional is the fact that they always state in one form or another that you do not need to have some beautiful voice to sing praises to God. They say the only requirement to sing praise to God is if you have breath. They get that from Psalm 150:6 which says,
“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!”
I share this because tomorrow is our Prayer and Worship Night at 7pm in the Sanctuary. You don’t have to know how to sing in key or know how to sing at all. All you need is breath. God has given all of us breath to praise and worship Him. If you have never been to one of our Prayer and Worship Nights, please come check it out. It will be a wonderful time to worship God and soak in His presence, renew your strength, find peace and corporately worship the King of kings and Lord of lords.
