Praise God for Pentecost Sunday

Peter spoke to the crowd in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost: “Therefore let all Israel be assumed of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” (Acts 2:36)

This past Sunday we celebrated Pentecost.  It was a wonderful day in so many ways!  It was a thrill to baptize Ivan, Jenna, Julia, and Katrina.  They gave wonderful testimonies of how God has saved them and is transforming their lives.  Praise God for their salvation!

It was also a great day because we gathered to worship Jesus as both Lord and Messiah.  From the very first verse of the first song we sung together, I got goosebumps.  The Holy Spirit was with us!  I am so thankful that we worship and praise a God who is worthy to be praised.

And, as you probably know, I love to eat great food, and we definitely had a lot of it on Sunday!  Thank you to everyone for bringing so many wonderful dishes and desserts.  It was great to have so many ethnic dishes and different foods.  It was a feast!  I wish I could have tasted every single thing, but then I would have had to spend Monday shopping for bigger pants.

Lastly, it was a wonderful day because we were the Body of Christ together.  When we think of Pentecost, we say that it is the birthday of the church because all those who placed their faith in Christ began to meet together from that day on ministering to one another with the spiritual gifts that were given to them through the Holy Spirit who now lived in them.  That is a picture of us as well.  We are a church filled with people who love each other and serve each other with the love and gifts that God gives us through his Spirit.  West Covina Christian Church is a church family and we are blessed to be a part of it.

God bless,

Pastor Kory
