Pastor Kory's Update

Dear West Covina Christian Church,

The unprecedented times that we are in make it difficult to predict what a month from now will look like let alone later this week.  Social pressures and politics press in and are causing things to change even more rapidly. Nonetheless, we are seeking to develop a plan for regathering as a church.

I’ve come to the conviction that if we only listen to outside voices telling us to do we will not only have a hard time coming to any sort of conclusion, but we will also come to conclusions that are not best for our church.  While we want to listen to wise counsel from politicians and health officials, the best plan of action for us is to wait on the Lord and to ask Him what He would have us to do.  So, in light of that conviction, I invite you to pray.  Please join us Friday night at 7:00 for an online prayer meeting.  We will be praying diligently for God’s guidance and direction for us as a church. Click here to join the prayer gathering. If you’ll be joining us from your landline or cell phone, call (669) 900-6833. Our meeting ID is 874 741 1611 and the password is 1100.

Also, you should be aware that we have a Regathering Committee that is beginning to meet for the purpose of prayer, seeking the Lord together, and discussing what we sense God leading us to do in the upcoming months.  Until we hear from the Lord, we will continue to pray and discuss.  There is no need to rush back until we have learned what God has for us during this time.

If we were not in a state of quarantine, this upcoming Sunday would have been our Annual Business Meeting.  Because we cannot meet together at this time and yet we have essential business that needs to be voted on, all church members should be receiving a letter in the mail over the next couple of days with a few items to vote on.  Please fill that out and send it back by June 15.  Our church chairman Bob Smith and I sat down to explain the letter you are receiving a bit more here:

Thank you all for your prayers.  We sense in our hearts that God is doing great things and we want to wait humbly before Him so that we might be faithful to whatever He is calling us towards.  It is His church and we are simply called to join in with His mission to save the world.

God bless you,
Pastor Kory
