God Makes These Things Happen
For some of us, we missed family members last week as they spent the week at NAOMI House in Arizona. I missed Renae, Avery, and Ellie as God sent them there to serve. Yes I believe God, in His sovereignty, chose them and the others on the team to go for a reason. I don't think they were there by accident or completely of their own decision. I believe God makes these things happen!
After the team had left, those of us that had family members on the team formed a group chat and were able to get pictures and updates of the team's activities during the week. As a group, we bonded together by seeing what God was doing with the team on a daily basis. It was also a blessing to read the team's blogs on the church website during the week. I'm grateful for the technology that kept us updated and unified in our prayer and support of the team while they were gone. God makes these things happen.
Finally, some of the pictures from the team reminded me of God's command over nature as told in Job. The team experienced a fair amount of "weather" during the week. While the rain, lightening, and thunderstorms posed challenges to some of the team's plans, it did not derail what God had planned for them. In some ways, I think the weather was a reminder of God's sovereign power over life's plans and circumstances.
God tells Job this in Job 38:34-35, when He says, “Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water? Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, ‘Here we are’?"
Job's answer is obviously no. Our answer is obviously no. We can't control the weather. Only God our sovereign God can. Only God can make these things happen.
God bless,
Pastor Darren
