God Created Us to Be With Him

Have you ever felt like a 3rd wheel or that you weren't wanted around? Maybe you accidentally ran into a couple of friends someplace and you didn't know they wanted to be by themselves. So you hung around and talked with them until you realized what was going on . Relationships are complicated.  Perhaps you've found yourself in other social settings where you felt like an outsider. I can remember in the past going to happy hour gatherings with friends/co-workers but feeling like an outsider once they started drinking (just to be clear, this was when I worked in business and consulting, not at the church ). I would guess that we've all felt unwanted or like an outsider at one time or another, even in relation to God (maybe especially in relation to God).

At the beginning of the Bible in Genesis chapters 1-2, it wasn't so complicated. God created the universe and everything in it including Adam and Eve. God created Adam and Eve with a purpose. He called them to be "fruitful and multiply" and fill the earth. He gave them the mission of taking care of the earth and tending the Garden of Eden. He made them to be in complete fellowship with Him and each other. Their nakedness represented the fact that they had no sin, no shame, and therefore nothing to hide before God or each other. They walked and communed with God in perfect peace and joy. They lived everyday as God intended, in right relationship with Him, with each other, and creation.

From the beginning, God created us to be with Him. He made us to be in perfect fellowship with Him. He never wanted you, me or anyone else to feel like a 3rd wheel, distant, or an outsider. Sin, of course, has fouled that up. We have broken that relationship with Him and we see the effects. But God sent His Son to repair that relationship and to reconcile us back to Him. We can again walk and commune with God. To all that are willing to place their faith in Christ, God is beckoning us to come to Him when we're lonely, when we're weak, when we feel shame. Never should we feel like we can't come to Him. In John 6:37, Jesus says "All whom My Father has given to Me will come to Me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to Me."  Remember, God created us to be with Him.

God bless,
