Foundation Sunday
Dear West Covina Christian Church,
One of the clear messages from God to His people, the Israelites, in the Old Testament was for them to remember all that God had done for them. For example, in Deuteronomy 8:2, it says, “Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.” And in Psalm 77:11 says, “I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago.”
This upcoming Sunday is an opportunity to remember and reflect on God’s faithfulness to us as a church. We have a long history of serving and worshiping the Lord. We were founded with the goal of reaching the Japanese in the San Gabriel Valley and, while we are now a multicultural church, we are blessed to still have our partnership with the Nichigo congregation.
This Sunday, which we are calling Foundation Sunday, will be a joint service with the Nichigo congregation. We’ll start at 10:30, and have bi-lingual worship, testimonies, and our former pastor, Pastor Rick Iwanaga, will deliver the sermon. It will be a wonderful time to praise the Lord, celebrate His goodness, and cultivate the unity that we have between our two congregations.
Thank you, Pastor Kory
