For the Son of Man Came to Seek and Save the Lost

Dear West Covina Christian Church,

We were thrilled with the good turnout for the informational meeting about the Education Center on Monday night!  It is a good first step and I am confident that God is at work and that this is going to be a blessing to our community.  Please be patient with us as we follow-up with all our volunteers.  Our goal is to have our tutoring program ready by Labor Day, but there is a lot of work to do to get that done.  I am thankful for Sy and Bob Spence and all their hard work.  Please keep all this in your prayers.

This Sunday will be the last sermon out of the Gospel Luke.  The series was called New Hope, New Joy.  In ways that we could not have anticipated when we started the series, God has kept grounded in Him and maintained our hope and joy in the midst of a difficult season as we have studied His Word.  Luke 19:10 might be called the theme verse in Luke: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”  While we decide to be saved at a specific moment time, salvation is worked out in our lives over the course of our lives.  I am praising God for His continual seeking and saving us during a time when there has been so much confusion and anxiety.

Some churches are defying government orders and gathering at this time.  Other churches are mindfully heeding health officials’ guidance.  We will chart our own course by seeking to follow God’s leading for us.  As we continue to seek the Lord on this issue, we are very confident in keeping our current course of action for now.  Again, we ask for your prayers and are thankful for God’s guidance.

Chuck has given us a wonderful video devotional for this week:

Have a great week!
