Pastor Kory's Update
Dear West Covina Christian Church,
This month we have been giving attention to the fact that West Covina Christian Church has now been in this community for twenty years. As celebrate God’s faithfulness to our church, we are mindful that this is a difficult time for our community and for all the members of West Covina Christian Church. All the public schools in LA County, including the West Covina School District, will be 100% distance learning in the fall. This is a challenge for both the teachers and the students/families. My heart hurts for the students who are vulnerable during this time because they will not be able to keep up with their education. While the school is doing the best they can, the distance learning format is not ideal for some parents who cannot give the needed time and attention to helping their kids with school or for kids who do not learn well this way. My prayer is that we as a church might be able to come alongside some of those students to help them with their education during this difficult time.Using the technology that we have available to us, we continue to seek to be used by God. This includes the Vacation Bible School that we are hosting virtually this week. So many kids are having a great time—both kids from our church and the children who are living at the NAOMI House in Arizona! This has definitely been a highlight of the summer for me and I am so thankful to all the leaders who have made this year’s VBS a unique and fantastic experience for all involved! As we continue to seek the Lord, Stephen has a video devotional for us this week:
God bless you during this week,
