Christmas Isn't Just for Children

The lights, the decorations, the music, and the presents stir the imagination at Christmastime, especially for our children and young people.  Who doesn't remember the joy and excitement of Christmas growing up (if you can remember that far back)?  Or who hasn't seen the faces of children or grandchildren light up when seeing relatives, getting presents, performing in Christmas pageants, decorating the tree, eating desserts, staying up late, and the list goes on.

There are so many components to our celebration of Christmas these days.  And although we, as adults, tire more quickly and grumble about the crowds, the traffic, and the over-commercialization of Christmas (I know I do :)), I think God intends for us to enjoy and find meaning in the Christmas season.  But only if we remember and honor the real reason for the season, Jesus.  Scripture says in Matthew 1:21, "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”

Avery painted this poster for KWP so our children would know that the birth of Jesus is the reason for Christmas.  And not just that He was born, but that He came to save us from our sin and separation from God.  Only through Him and by His name can we be reconciled to God.  We must all come to Him!  That's what Christmas is truly about, for our children as well as for you and me.  It is with Christ in mind, that we can enjoy the lights, the decorations, the music, the gatherings, and the presents of Christmas!

God bless you and have a Merry Christmas!
